What Do You Know…Without Question

There are times we are brought to our knees in pain, confusion, upset, strife, or sin itself. Fighting through it seems like an uphill battle, and we just don’t have the strength to take another step. Sometimes it feels like a spiritual reckoning.

In Romans 7, Paul talks about even as a Christian, we have this sin deep within us. That sin sometimes needs dealt with through a reckoning. But after repentance and the acceptance of forgiveness by faith that cleanses our hearts, we can lay spent, not knowing what to do next.

The answer is found in Jude 1:20-21. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

A question mark on a blue backgroundThis is exactly the time to build yourself up—with what you know…without question. Ask of yourself: What do I know? And answer with His promises that He has planted in your heart. Dig deep for those answers that you may have forgotten or listen to the still small voice for the wisdom that He promises. “God is good. I am his beloved. He created me. Jesus saved me. He is my Lord and Savior. I want God more than I want anything. I want God more than I want anyone. He will give me rest. I am forgiven. Whatever I ask for in prayer, believe that I have received it. I am more valuable than the birds of the air. Nothing can separate me from the love of Christ. I am the apple of His eye.”

Then He will give you rest, and His mercies are new every morning. His peace He left with you. Not the modern day understanding of peace: freedom from disturbance, or tranquility. But the deep, spiritual calm in one’s soul that transcends all earthly circumstances.

The road to building up yourself: Encourage yourself in what you know…without question.
