Out Of Alignment

Out Of Alignment

Driving a vehicle that is out of alignment is difficult—and dangerous. Drifting over into other areas is hazardous. Being out of alignment causes unnecessary wear on the tires which can cause unexpected problems in unexpected places. Continued misalignment will render the vehicle useless for taking us where we need to go.

Misalignment can be caused by several things: the driver, the road, or the worn parts in the vehicle. First, it may be something we did by being in a place we should not have been. Second, sometimes misalignments occur by outside forces, such as unseen road conditions or obstacles that we were forced into. Finally, poor or worn components become loose, we don’t pay attention to maintenance, a frustrated driver sitting in his carovercompensation becomes a habit, or we simply continue to allow things to continue by thinking ‘all is well’.

Not being aligned with the Spirit is also dangerous. Are we reaching out to God? Are we continually abiding in the Spirit? Do we ask for and acquire the wisdom that He makes available to us right now so we can align our will with His will? Is our heart aligned with His heart?

Whether we are out of alignment due to something we did, outside circumstances thrust us into a hazard, or we continued on thinking ‘all is well’, it is vital we check for realignment. Always ask for counsel, guidance and direction because the heart will continually be tested for faithfulness to stay on the straight course. Moment by moment is how we are to stay in alignment on our Spiritual Journey. Finally, just as a wheel alignment ensures optimal drivability, we should always check to see if our spiritual wheels are also pointed in the right direction.
