This time of year, there are garage sale signs on every street corner. We are far more diligent about having a garage sale to empty the content of those things that we no longer need, are no longer useful in our lives, we’ve outgrown, or have been replaced with something better in the home of our physical life than we are with the home of our spirit.

A thorough house-cleaning occurs as we pay attention to nooks and crannies, opening cabinets and closets that we rarely see the inside of, and drawers and boxes are completely searched. Considerable time is spent to organize, clean, price, and prepare for sale day. Then the big day arrives, and we willingly purge.

In the Spiritual Journey, there are 7 Significant Events that bring each believer closer to the Christ-like nature designed for us. Our Creator desires the same ‘cleaning out’ for optimum health and transformation of our lives. We must provide full access, as the more access the Creator has, the more thorough the process will be. This is the spiritual house-cleaning. It is important to remember that the Creator is not an intruder, so the right to manage the process of clearing out the debris that is harmful to the believer must be granted. Trusting and yielding to the necessary work will bring a greater ease in turning over each personal motive, behavior, attitude, and corresponding actions to accept the truth that is made known. So, open wide the doors for the Spiritual Garage Sale; it is time to let Him rid us of constraints, oppressions, and confinements that hinder our walk in becoming the complete and transformed nature that is Christ-like and one with the eternal Spirit.
