Ignorance
Spiritual ignorance is prevalent in today’s world. We have so much information readily available at our fingertips, yet most people do not seek God for wisdom—for anything, including the truth. Many sit at the gateway lost and confused, rather than to boldly confront the spiritual ignorance that prevents asking for guidance and direction.
This is easily identifiable by the words people speak. In the last two weeks, I have had been part of conversations where people say, “we’re only human”, “it’s so hard to do the right thing”, and “well, we just live in a fallen world.” And these individuals actually believed that these are valid and solid arguments for the topic of discussion. All of these arguments defended ignorance.
When I walked away, I realized these comments were evidence that they walk in ignorance of the truth. And these people carry and multiply the same ignorance that they have always known and operated by, never asking for guidance, direction, or spiritual truth.
To be ignorant means “not exposed to”.
Arguments against ignorance are found throughout Scriptures. Over and over, you can see Jesus speak to ignorance. Let’s be the Jesus in these conversations, and not allow those we care for to continue in cycles of ignorance.
“We’re only human”: 1 John 5:4 “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”
“It’s so hard to do the right thing”: Galatians 6:9: “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right.”
“Well, we just live in a fallen world”: John 16:33 “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage—I have conquered the world.”
