Keeping Up With God
This is the incredible story of one woman who saw a need, raised a prayer, and was called by God for the unique opportunity to help the homeless in Denver. This innovative program purposed to offer genuine, God-driven support to families in need, and not just prop up the needy with another assistance program. Working with Federal and State programs, private foundations, financial institutions, churches, builders, retail entities, and volunteers, Connie Zimmerman leased HUD homes, purchased Resolution Trust properties, and built a solid community to help the new poor, working poor, refugees, and the unemployed become successfully self-sufficient. Every step was one of faith, and God was repeatedly faithful and blessed the non-profit work of Colorado Homeless Families.
As Executive Director of Colorado Homeless Families for 29 years, Connie was settling into retirement when the Lord began prompting her that it was time to tell the story by giving her Psalm 145:6 “They tell of the power of your awesome works—and I will proclaim your great deeds.”
“Miracles lie in the unknown” is an epigram published by CBT Publications. Miracles occur through channels that only God can create, and connections that only He can make. Until God moved and joined experience, talent, and obedience, the miraculous junction and subsequent writing and publishing of “Keeping Up With God” remained in the unknown. This just-published book was created through many hearts saying “yes, I will follow You, Lord” and thus, Psalm 145:6 came to pass proclaiming His great deeds through Colorado Homeless Families.
