Sunflowers famously track the sun, exposing themselves to maximize light exposure. That is why these beauties are often seen as symbols of faith, devotion, and seeking light and truth. Have you ever stopped to think about light? Light is an awesome and interesting subject in Scripture.

• Light was created by God (Genesis 1:3 and Isaiah 45:7)
• Light has no fellowship with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14)
• God dwells in Light (1 Timothy 6:16)
• God calls people into Light (1 Peter 2:9)

Light is used in Scripture for:

• the purity of God (1 John 1:5)
• the glory of God (Psalms 104:2 and 1 Timothy 6:16)
• the Word of God (Psalms 119:105 and 2 Peter 1:19)
• the Gospel of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4)
• the wisdom of God (Daniel 2:22)
• the favor of God (Psalms 4:6 and Isaiah 2:5)
• the guidance of God (Psalms 27:1 and 36:9)
• the path of the just (Proverbs 4:18)
• the glory of the church (Isaiah 60:1-3)
• the manifestations (John 3:21)
• the revelations (Ephesians 5:13)

Most importantly:

• God is Light, and in him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5)
• The entrance of His words gives Light (Psalms 119:130)
• And ultimately heaven, there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them Light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
